The Overits
Harmonies, Horns & Power-pop Ska from Adelaide, South Australia

Arising from the long-cold ashes of Adelaide trad-ska band Sleepy City Upstarts, The Overits! are a dance band heavily influenced by the music of ‘60s Jamaica. Combining the experience of members from other Adelaide horn-bands such as Lucky Seven and Son of Dad, with their great passion for the offbeat-guitar driven sounds they love, The Overits! aim to get dancefloors bouncing with their trad-inspired originals and takes on classic tunes.
The band formed in early 2019 and settled on the fantastic name of The Isolators – unfortunately right before the pandemic kicked off – prompting the name change in 2022. Whilte the original plan was to bust out covers beyond the normal ska-cover repertoire, it quickly became apparent that the few original tunes being kicked around were making the band gel; writing and creating fast became the driving force and source of energy at rehearsals. Each of the members brings with them a vastly different set of musical influences and experiences from far-flung genres such as punk, swing, brass and marching band, soul and power-pop; and whilst ska (in all it’s glorious waves), remains front and centre, The Overits! sound would be hard to pin down to any one branch of the ska world.
With a love of 60s Jamaican sounds and a fresh Adelaide edge, The Overits! bring offbeat grooves, horn fueled energy, and floor filling ska that keeps the whole room bouncing..
